PDF and EPUB Files

Many ebook platforms, such as Springer and Taylor & Francis, allow you to download ebooks in PDF or EPUB format. Most mobile devices, including smartphones, ipads, tablets, and e-ink tablets, allow you to download or sync these files. Refer to your device’s user manual for instructions on how to do this.

How to transfer a PDF file to a Kindle.

Note: this procedure will not work for .acsm files, such as those from ProQuest Ebook Central or EbscoHost.

  • Download the PDF.
  • Find your Kindle email address. This can be found in your Amazon account > Manage Your Content and Devices > Devices > Click on your Kindle device. There, you will see your Kindle email that ends with @kindle.com.
  • Go to Manage Your Content and Devices > Preferences > Personal Document Settings > Approved Personal Document E-mail List. Ensure the email address that is sending the document is on the approved list.
  • Compose an email to your Kindle email address. Attach the PDF document to the email. Write "convert" in the subject (this will automatically convert the PDF into a Kindle document where you can modify the font settings).
  • After a short time, the document should display in your Kindle library.
