Here is a step by step guide to find an article based on the citation:
1. Take a look at your citation and identify the journal, magazine or newspaper title. While all of the citation styles are different, in the major styles (like MLA, APA and Chicago) the title of the journal, magazine or newspaper is in italics.
This is an example of a citation break-down in APA format:
Author, A. A., Author, B. B., & Author, C. C. (Year). Title of article. Title of Periodical, volume number(issue number), pages.
https://doi.org/xx.xxx/yyyy
Notice that the title of the journal is in italics.
2. Take your article citation and go to the library homepage:
Here is an example of a citation:
Spitz, D., & Hunter, S. (2005). Contested codes: The social construction of Napster. Information Society, 21(3), 169-180.
https://doi:10.1080/01972240490951890
You can paste the title of the article into WorldCat and perform a search. If the library has access to the article, it will show up in the WorldCat search results and you can access the full text of the article from there.
