4. Synthesizes

Standard Four

The information literate student, individually or as a member of a group, uses information effectively to accomplish a specific purpose

Performance Indicators:

  • The information literate student applies new and prior information to the planning and creation of a particular product or performance.
  • The information literate student revises the development process for the product or performance.
  • The information literate student communicates the product or performance effectively to others.

 

Example Assessment Methods And Activities

  • Have students complete a research log documenting the steps invloved in the research process. 
  • Have students complete an annotated bibliography in a standard format. 
  • Have students work in small groups to present a poster or PowerPoint on their research topic. 
  • Have students present a summary of their research to the class and create test questions on their presentation for class. 
  • Have students work in small groups to present research findings on a topic, with each student presenting for a different audience or presenting a different aspect of the topic. 
  • Have students practice abstracting and summarizing journal articles.
