Finding Databases

Library databases are electronic collections of journals.

The library subscribes to many databases where you will find articles related to political science. 

Review the center column of this page to learn which databases will be helpful for your research. 

Find Journal Articles

You can find scholarly articles through the library resources and more. To ensure that you discover relevant resources, spend time searching:

  1. Library databases
  2. WorldCat
  3. Google Scholar

 

Basic search strategies in these resources will help you find relevant results:

You can start your research with a keyword strategy:

[your topic] AND [what you would like to do with your topic]

Examples:

"political theory" AND "public policy"

"comparative politics" AND "first world democracies"

"international relations" AND globalization

Library Databases

Search the library databases to find articles from scholarly journals.

To access, go to:

  1. library.aus.edu,
  2. select Databases by Title, 
  3. use the alphabetical list to find your preferred database. 

Below is a list of selected databases that may be helpful with your research. 

WorldCat

WorldCat is the library's discovery tool for access to books, e-books, scholarly articles, news, and more.

To search for scholarly articles in WorldCat, go to: 

  1. library.aus.edu
  2. In the WorldCat search box, type your topic
  3. Select search
  4. From the left side of the navigation, limit to Content Type: Journal Article
  5. From Refine your Search, select Scholarly & Peer Review
  6. Review your results. 

 

 

Google Scholar

Use Google Scholar as a complement research tool to the library databases and WorldCat. Google Scholar allows you to search for scholarly articles and other materials. 

Go to: scholar.google.com

Search on Google Scholar for human rights violations and southeast asia. Select links that say Check AUS Library to get access.
