Create Alerts to Stay Current

Be proactive and help your professor stay current in his or her discipline by creating an alert across a variety of resources. Alerts can be configured in the library databases, in a specific journal, and in Google Scholar.

Review the instructions below to create a variety of alerts.

Database Alert

A search alert in a library database will notify you when new documents that match your search are available.

Journal Alert

Many journals allow you to create and schedule email alerts to deliver new documents from a specific journal as they become available.

Below is an example of a Journal Alert (also known as a Publicaton Alert) in the Proquest Database. Other databases will have similar procedures.

Select set up alert to receive content update from a specific journal.

Google Scholar Alert

Create or log into your Google account or Gmail. Select Alerts at the top of the page.

From Google Scholar homepage, select Alerts link

Select Create Alert button
